Faith to LIVE!
Throughout the course of history, people have had to build their faith for all kinds of things. People like Martin Luther King Jr. built up their own and others faith in order to stand up for things they believed needed to be changed. In our day and age, the world is going crazy. If you don't stand for things, then you end up falling for everything. I believe that no one truly lives until they prove to themselves that they will stand for something. It matters less what it is you're standing up for, but the ability to hold your ground and accept yourself and others is a lost art in this 2019 world we live in.
The quote that I want to talk about today goes like this:
"None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Eat the delicious food. Walk in the sunshine. Jump in the ocean. Say the truth that you're carrying in your heart like hidden treasure. Be silly. Be kind. Be weird. There's no time for anything else." -Anthony Hopkins
I love how it emphasizes the need to LIVE. Life is meant to be lived, enjoyed, and loved. Everyday you should be able to look back and find some good things going on in your life. The problem is, LIFE IS HARD. But here is the other, bigger problem: Life is always going have hard things. If people let those hard things stop them, no one throughout all of history would have ever accomplished anything. Hard things drive us to become better. Hard things empower us to become what we want to become. Hard things make the good days even better. Hard days ALWAYS lead to good days.
Whether it's obvious or not, it does take faith to live. Living your life to the fullest is living how you want to live it. Living it to the fullest means rolling with the punches and learning to enjoy the difficult things. Enjoy when you walk outside and feel the sharp bite of cold winter air, enjoy weeding your family garden in the baking sun, and enjoy the awkward run ins with people you'll never see again. Enjoy the uncomfortable moments. Because sometimes that's all you get.
Take time for people. A few years ago I learned this lesson when my sister that was away from home sent a letter to us. One thing she really emphasized in this particular letter was that "Life is all people". Every day since then that statement gains more and more truth in my mind. People are everywhere. Even though we don't always get to choose how or when we run into them, we do get to choose how they remember us. Will they remember that you were a person who took time to live with people? Not literally live in the same house as someone, but to live the width of life with. To drop the work every once in a while to enjoy dancing in the rain, to wear the swimsuit and go have fun in the sun not worrying about comparing your body to others, and to surround yourself with the people that make you feel better about things. It is up to YOU to treat yourself to a wonderful life.
So go get em'.
We LOVE living!
and HEY remember: you are SO awesome.
